About the Band:

The South Bay Stompers is a traditional jazz band playing music inspired by Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver and Louis Armstrong. The band was founded in 1999 by a group of musicians from the San Francisco Bay Area. The Stompers' schedule includes performances at various local festivals, civic and private events.

The musicians of the Stompers include:

Jerry Johnson, piano
Paul Bostwick, tuba
Thomas Beckman, drums

Concert details:

Come out and join us from 5pm-7pm on June 28th as we perform vintage jazz in a pleasant park setting. Bring along some crackers and cheese, strawberries and grapes, wine and sparkling water, something to sit on and/or just yourself.

The concert will be on the lawn near the foot bridge across Los Gatos Creek, just down the hill from the pedestrian entrance on University Ave (park map-pdf). The park's vehicle entrance is off of Blossom Hill Road, between Los Gatos Blvd. and Winchester Blvd./University Ave. Once in the park, follow the railroad tracks, veering left at the Y-intersection. Cross the creek and park at any of the next 3 lots on your right. For the performance area, look for the white tent. Map and driving instructions available from Google, Yahoo, or MapQuest. (Please be aware that all Santa Clara County parks charge a $6 per vehicle fee to park.) Food and soft drinks for sale. Event is wine-friendly.

For the fifth consecutive year, Santa Clara County Parks and South Bay Folks team up to bring you free, outdoor concerts every Saturday in June and July.

Located in a pleasant outdoor setting overlooking Vasona Lake and Los Gatos Creek, this nine-week series features local artists performing a wide variety of acoustic genres ranging from big band, to jazz, to traditional and contemporary folk. Pack a picnic dinner or enjoy concessions at the park, and join us this summer for Vasona Vibrations 2008.
